What Makes Us Unique?
Insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the federal government, through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), credit unions are not banks, or labor unions, or loan companies, or credit bureaus. They are not even a business in the usual sense.
Our credit union is a member-owned, non-profit thrift institution formed for the purpose of encouraging savings, using collective moneys to make loans at competitively low interest rates to members, and providing other member services on a cooperative basis. Members are united by a defined field of membership and democratically operate the credit union under state and federal laws and regulations.
Our motto, "In Touch With You and Your Family, Too!" and our theme, "Your family oriented financial friend--where lifetime relationships begin" indicate our desire to serve all family members from the youngest to the oldest. We want to be "number one" when it comes to family financial services.
The credit union is a separate corporation from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and other sponsors and has its own Board of Directors and staff. Board members receive no pay. The Board is elected by the members at the Annual Meeting where each member in attendance has just one vote.
